The Highway on My Plate Certified Restaurant at McLeodGanj
Incase you are fans of Highway on Plate you will love to be in the shoes of Rocky and Mayur. Since I am one I decided to visit this restaurant which was visited by Rocky and Mayur. I am talking about the Norling Restaurant. This is not an elaborate place although the food is just amazing. The menu has a range of Tibetan items from Thenthuk to Tingmo. Since we still had to visit a lot of places we decided to have a light lunch here. We started off with the mutton momos. Being in Calcutta I have tried the chicken and pork momos right from my childhood in my school canteen. But the mutton momos were a first time. And guess what? They are even cheaper than the chicken momos here. Every momo was sumptuous and juicy with mutton fat dripping in every single bite. We ended up having two plates of these.
Next we tried the Lamb with Bamboo shoots. Tibetan food is usually bland and not all all spicy. True to the Tibetan spirit this gravy was mild. Although I didn't quite like the taste of the bamboo shoots I absolutely loved the lamb.
We ended by ordering Tingmo - this is a Tibetan bread that is steamed. The dough is the same as that of the momo. Alongwith the Tingmo we ordered Lamb - Sweet and Sour. This was made really well with the balance of sweet and sour flavors.
Overall: This is a must visit if you are at McLeodGanj. Definitely try their mutton momos.
