Bengali Food Festival at Ohri's Nautanki Gali

Ohri's Nautanki Gali Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
Ohri's has always been one of the popular food joints in Hyderabad. Ohri's Nautanki Gali is currently having their Bengali Food Festival. Being a Bengali this was something that I just couldn't miss - so I went ahead to treat myself. Their cuisine had their normal spread and in addition to that they had this range of Bengali dishes as a part of the Bengali Food Festival. We started off by having the paneer skewers which was a part of the normal menu.
We then had the Aloo Bhendi Bhaja. This is supposed to be fried ladies fingers and potatoes but the dish that was served was a Tarkari and definitely not a Bhaja.
Post that we tried the Chilli Prawns that was a part of the normal menu.
We then tried the Apollo Fish that was apart of the normal menu. The preparation was the same as that of the Prawns only the Fish was different here.
We then had the Chorchori. This is a Bengali dish that is made with vegetables and Shak. They made this really well.
Next up was the Nautanki Colada. This was their signature mocktail and I must say prepared extremely well. This drink was milk based with pineapple, strawberry and cranberry flavors.
Then we ate the Chicken Cutlet which was made into cute little heart shapes. This again tasted like the authentic Bengali cutlets and was really good.
The next dish was the Dimer Kosha. This was finger licking good with all the masalas prepared for a longer time to enhance the flavor of the dish.
The Aloo Bhaja was crispy just like Bengalis love it. This would go extremely well with Dal and Rice.
The Kiwi cooler was much better than than most places with a subtle yet smooth flavor of Kiwi.
Next we were served the Radha Ballavi with Ghughni. Although the Ghughni was prepared well I was disappointed with the Radha Ballavi as there was hardly any filling which is the core of this dish and which differentiates it from the Puri.
The Biryani that was served was disappointing as well. There was no Aloo in it as is typical in the Bengali Biryani and this was made like any other normal Biryani.
Next was the Fuluri which is basically a vada made out of Chanar Dal.
The Kosha Mangsho was prepared really well. The flavors of the Mutton cooked in spices made this really great along with the Radha Ballavi.
The next dish that was served to us was called the Posto Mach. Although this was more of Shorshe Mach because there was hardly ant Posto in the dish. The fish was prepared very well though.
We then tried the Murg Lasooni from the normal menu which was good.
The Jhal Muri was made really well with Mustard Oil, Mustard Sauce and a topping of Coconut.
I also tried the Caprioska. I must say they made it really well with a smooth blend and not a too strong flavor.
Then we started off with the desserts. I was pretty excited with the Chenar Jelepi but infortunately this was nowhere close to how the actual dish is.
The Mishti Doi was not sweet at all and I couldn't eat it after tasting a spoonful.
The Rosogollas were really good and were served fresh.
Overall: My expectation from the Bengali Food Festival was a spread of amazing Bengali dishes and desserts. Although the main courses were really good, I was extremely disappointed with the Radha Ballavi and the desserts.
