Shanghai Chef has been one of the oldest restaurants that have been present in Gachibowli for almost a decade. I absolutely love Chinese food and hence had to try out this place. The ambiance is nice and warm with Oriental music playing in the background. We started off by ordering the mock-tails.
The first drink was Fall in Love. This consists of strawberry and litchi crush and a dash of lime with sugar syrup and is served chilled.
The next drink was the Alphonza. This had a combination of mango and orange juice along with ice-cream.
We then tried the chocolate rush. This drink had a mix of pineapple juice and chocolate syrup with ice cream.
Then we tried the Grasshopper. This drink has Khush syrup, litchi crush, a dash of lime and was topped up with 7up.
We had also ordered the Litchi Punch. This was a combination of pineapple juice, litchi crush and a scoop of ice-cream.
Then we started off with the soup. We chose the Tom Kha Kung/Gai. One came with chicken while the other had prawns. This was a Thai soup that was primarily cooked in rich coconut milk. I must say this was really good with the perfect amount of spices blended well with the coconut milk flavor.
The first started that we ordered was the Honey Crispy Chicken. The chicken was tender inside and crispy on the outside and presented really well.
We then had the Shu Mai. The Shu Mai is basically steamed open dumplings that are stuffed with minced chicken and served with homemade red chilly sauce.
The next dish was the Eggs Exotica which was prepared with boiled eggs tossed in oriental spices.
The next dish was the roasted Chilly Lamb. The Lamb was prepared really well and the sauces added to the flavor of the dish.
We then had the Stuffed Bell Peppers in Supo Sauce which is primarily an Indonesian sauce.
We then had the dragon prawn. The prawns were fresh and cooked perfectly with cashew nuts.
In the main course we ordered the Phad Thai Phak which is spicy Thai basil flavored fried rice.
We then tried the Mee Goreng which is Spicy Malaysian soft noodles sautéed with vegetables and meat.
To go with the rice we ordered Burnt Garlic Chicken. This dish had sliced chicken cooked in burnt garlic sauce.
Now it was desert time. The first desert that we ordered was Kluay Tod or Banana Toffee. The banana was soft inside but crisp and caramelized on the surface and tasted absolutely marvelous with the combination of sesame seeds.
We then had Daarsan with ice-cream. The Daarsan was crispy fried and well done.
The final dish was the Fried ice-cream. This was one of the best Fried ice-creams that I have had with a very thin layer of coating and was coconut flavored.
Overall: This is a must visit if you want to enjoy authentic Oriental Cuisine.
