Ohri's Dhaba has been quite an old restaurant in the city. They are known for their buffet as most other Ohri's outlets are. Yet they decided to change their buffet. This was because they felt that being close to the IT crowd they should offer something more popular among that crowd. So they launched their combo meals. So we went ahead to try out their new menu and see if it was really worth visiting. We started off by ordering the Veg Combo Meal which is priced at Rs. 225.
The veg combo meal definitely had good portions of everything that they offered. There was Veg Biryani, Chapati, starters, Paneer, Veg curry, Papad and sweet. I liked the Veg Biryani and the Paneer. The sweet was also really good. Next we ordered the Non Veg Combo Meal.
Again portions were wholesome. The chicken Biryani though lacked flavor. The chicken starter and chicken gravy were decent. The corn starter was great. Both these combos also had rasamali along with the thalis. The rasamali was definitely great.
We then started ordering the drinks. We started off by ordering the Chatpata Orange. This had the orangy flavor with chaat masala and went well. The presentation in a matka was definitely appealing and added to the ambiance of the place.
Next I had ordered a Lover Berry - this was supposed to be a litchi based drink. Although the base was litchi again this also had chaat masala that kind of didn't blend along well with the litchi.
We had then ordered the mutton Biryani. I absolutely did not like it and would not recommend ordering this. This neither had flavor nor the taste of the typical Hyderabadi Biryani although the presentation in the matka was appealing.
Finally we ordered the frozen coke which is supposed to be their unique drink. Although it looked nothing like the pictures that were on the pamphlets this tasted good.
Overall: Although this place definitely would be value for money, I wouldn't recommend this for a non-vegetarian. The vegetarian thali is definitely good.
