I have heard and been to a lot of Sunday brunches. Yet the Sunday Brunch at Pi - The Avasa Hotel is unique as not only does it have the option of Sunday buffet brunch with and without alcohol but it also had the option of taking a dip and lazying around their beautiful pool. One suggestion would be to visit this place during summers as the pool is not temperature controlled and hence becomes too cold during winters. We initially tried out their Non-veg Live Grill. The prawns were really good but apart from that the rest of the items were pretty bland.
We then ordered a plate of fries and Potato Wedges. Both of them were done well, although they took some time to get them to our table.
We then tried the Sea Fish from the Non-veg grill but this was too spicy.
We then started off with the cocktail the first one being Whisky Sour. This had the perfect blend of ingredients and tasted great.
We then had the mutton skewers. Although the mutton was soft, the flavors did not blend enough well together.
The Chicken Shawarma was also really dry and we didn't like it at all.
We then tried a mocktail called Strawberry Sunrise. This was a blend of orange juice, pineapple juice, strawberry syrup and lime juice.
The tacos were average with crunchy shells but the sauces did not bring out the flavors.
After this we went down to the restaurant to try out the buffet. They had a huge range of food spread across.
I started off with the Mushroom filled with cream. Somehow the combination just didn't click.
The next thing that I tried out was the Kaffir Lime Tenderloin Carpaccio. This was extremely dry and chewy.
The next one was the Smoked Ham and Bel-pepper salsa in Tomato Basket. Although the presentation was great, the combination didn't seem too appeasing to me.
The Chicken Roulade that I tried out was slightly bland and tangy.
They also had a variety of sushi spread which was actually good.
Their prawn cocktail was presented really well.
In the fast food section they had fried chicken, mini open burgers, coated baby corns, cheese balls and chicken wings.
In the main course I tried out the Tenderloin Mignon with Chicken Liver Pate .
The next one was the Kada Masala ka Raan. The meat was succulent and spicy.
I also tried out the Courgettes Ripieni that was made with stuffed Zucchini.
The Crispy Duck in Hoisin sauce was the perfect Asian dish.
They also had a section filled with different types of cheese.
They then had an elaborate spread of desserts.
If you are a fan of fig and honey then they had a Fig Tarte Tatin which was already cut into smaller pieces.
The Salted Caramel cheesecake was to die for. It was the perfect cheesecake and since I love caramel I absolutely loved it.
The next one was the Mixed Fruit Cheesecake. If you like fruit flavors then you would like this.
They then had a North Indian sweet called the Kaju Kesari roll. The stuffing inside was yellow and had the kesari flavor which the outer layer was white with the kaju flavor.
The next one was the Classic Blueberry cheesecake which was again done really well.
The next item was the Sachar pastry which was primarily a chocolate sponge cake.
They also had mini red velvet cupcakes which were soft and tasty.
They then had another sweet - the Malai cham cham. This cham cham really had a lot of malai which enhanced the taste and flavors of the sweet.
They then had cups of chocolate mousse with chocolate sticks.
They also had the Grand Marnier mousse which is created using the liqueur and then flavored.
Last but not the least was the Chocolate Marquise which was creamy and rich in chocolate.
Overall: The great things about their buffet is the fact that you get to try out a plethora of cuisines across different parts of the world and you also get a chance to lazy around in the pool. Yet, the taste and flavor for most of the items definitely need to be worked upon. The quality matters more than the quantity.
